The red flags listed below can be indicators that your child may need some additional support in sensory processing:
- Over-sensitive to touch, sounds, food textures, busy environments
- Unaware of pain or extremes in temperature (hot/cold)
- Constant movement or activity
- Fear of movement or of being off the ground
- Difficulty self-soothing or calming down
- Fussy about clothing tags, seams, fabrics
- Can’t stand getting hair washed, brushed or cut
- Difficulty learning new motor skills, or clumsiness in movement
- Smells everything or puts everything in mouth (after toddler years)
